~ Julia Catherine ~

Today I'm featuring Julia Catherine, from New Jersey, who sells many different kinds of jewelry, and is all ready for Valentine's Day sales! How did you get started in crafting? It seems that I have been involved in 'crafting' in some way, shape or form my entire life. All the most important people in my life are artists. My mom, my grandmother and my aunt. All artists. I can remember summers as a child i would spend my days in my grandmothers art studio painting in watercolors. During the school year I would go to my mothers jewelry store after school where I would make jewelry for fun. What are some of the things that inspire you? I'm very inspired by nature. Other things that inspire me are my materials. When you find a gemstone or bead with an amazing color or cut, or just something rare, you are inspired to create something beautiful around that gem. What do you think would be the perfect project? The perfect project would be just being able to take time off from everything and sit outside in a garden sketching new jewelry designs. How long have you been selling on Etsy, and how long have you done what you do?I have been selling on Etsy since May of 2007. I have been making jewelry, honestly since I can remember. It's sort of what I live and breathe. Selling your work on Etsy, or online in general, can mean a lot of competition. Are you intiminated by this? Why or why not? I'm not really intimidated by any competition, we are all talented and there are many people out there that are wanting gorgeous handmade jewelry. All jewelry artists have individual style that makes them unique. My blog link is http://juliacatherine.blogspot.com I have a website that has other important links too and will be adding more soon. http://www.juliacatherinejewelry.com. Thank you so much!
